There were great ideological differences between the Six Classics and the Pre-Qin scholars in the system of Confucianism. Confucian scholars made an attempt to integrate the two different academic forms — classics and commentaries — into an organic ideological system. So Confucianism could not only retain the profound consciousness of cultural tradition, but also keep with the pioneering spirit of innovative thought. In the process of the integration of Confucianism, constant changes took place in the literary form of classics, and in the commentaries of scholars.
