Abstract
Many Chinese advanced intellectuals paid great attention to Marxist economics when Marxism began to spread widely in China around the May 4th Movement in 1919. Among them was Li Dazhao, one of the faculty at Peking University and one of the earliest Marxists in China, who acted as an important leader of the May 4th Movement. As a professor of Peking University, he took an active part in introducing Marxist economics to the young students at Peking University after his acceptance of Marxism through such ways as publishing articles in several journals, editing periodicals, participating in activities of political or academic groups, delivering public speeches and offering courses. Through all he did, he made great contribution to the early dissemination of Marxist economics in China, thus producing a far-reaching influence upon the development of modern economics in our country.
