Abstract
The academic circles have shown more and more concern for the study of the styles and forms of Chinese classic poems, and the relevant scholars have made more profound research in recent years. But there is still room for improvement in this respect. Talking of the study related to the process of the versification of five-character poems, while we have generally known about the present situation of the concerning research, we should pay more attention to the study of the reasons behind it. So far as the research about the poetic forms of Tang poems is concerned, we should reinforce the study of their systematization, diachronism and inner relations. At the same time, we should also pay attention to the study of the connotation and denotation of the relevant poetic concepts, and to the difference in style between Tang poems and those of later dynasties. For this reason, the author has done some textual and empirical studies in recent years about the important historical facts of poetic forms, the analysis of their conceptual implications, and the categories and conceptions of poetic forms from important poets. While the author has rectified some sustaining and newly emerging mistakes in academic circles, he has also made some macro theoretical reflections on the process of the versification of five character poems and the study about the poetic forms of Tang poems. The author hopes that more and more scholars will join in and promote the study of the styles and forms of Chinese classic poems.
